SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo women's basketball came back down 16 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Barry University Buccaneers by a score of 91-86. Leading the Lions was freshman Jaileen Green, who scored 28 points grabbed 4 rebounds both leading the team.
First Quarter
Saint Leo set the tone early, attacking the paint and playing with pace on the offensive end. Freshman Zoe O'Leary established a strong interior presence, while junior Olivia Agunzo provided early scoring to help the Lions take a two-point edge after one. Saint Leo's defensive activity limited clean looks and allowed the home side to dictate tempo in the opening period leading 25-23 after one.
Second Quarter
The second quarter featured back-and-forth momentum as both teams traded baskets and runs. Sophomore Amy Duggan helped steady the offense with effective ball distribution, while Jailenn Green continued to apply pressure off the dribble. Saint Leo matched Barry's physicality and execution, sending the game into halftime down
Third Quarter
Barry created separation coming out of the break, capitalizing on a strong shooting stretch to build its largest run of the game. Despite the swing, Saint Leo continued to compete, with Green scoring and Agunzo knocking down a key perimeter shot to halt momentum. The Lions remained composed but trailed by 16 entering the fourth, 73-57.
Fourth Quarter
Saint Leo responded with urgency in the final quarter, chipping away at the deficit through aggressive play and timely scoring. The Lions kept chipping away, led by Green who scored 16 and Agunzo who added 10 in the final frame. Saint Leo produced their best scoring quarter of the season against SSC competition with 34 points, holding the Buccaneers to only 13 points on 30.8% shooting. The lions took the lead off an and-1 layup from Green and saw Amy Duggan steal and score to ice the game at the buzzer, 91-85.
