WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team dropped a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) road contest on Saturday afternoon, falling 93-69 to nationally ranked No. 8 Palm Beach Atlantic at Rubin Arena.
Saint Leo stayed within striking distance early, however, Palm Beach Atlantic, who shot better than 50 percent from the field and built a 42-29 halftime advantage.
The Lions battled on the glass and forced turnovers, but Palm Beach Atlantic closed the half on a late run to take a 13-point cushion into the break.
In the second half, Saint Leo shot over 40 percent from the field and knocking down eight three-pointers. The Lions were unable to cut significantly into the deficit, however, as Palm Beach Atlantic continued to convert inside and capitalize on transition opportunities to extend its lead.
Senior Donovan Hill and sophomore Dominic Commisso led Saint Leo with 16 points apiece, while sophomore Camden Cerese added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Owen Pawlikowski finished with 11 points, and classmate Matthew Ansah chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, January 14 as they host Eckerd in a conference bout, starting at 7:30 p.m.
