FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the 2025 season with a 1-0 win on the road at Emmanuel (Ga.) Wednesday evening in non-conference play.

After a scoreless first half, the Lions (1-1-1) broke through in the 59th minute when sophomore Luis Gaitan found the back of the net off an assist from redshirt freshman Jorge Perez. The strike marked Gaitan's second goal of the season and proved to be the game-winner.

Saint Leo dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Emmanuel 23-4 with an 8-0 advantage in shots on target. The Lions also held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper James Knudson earned a clean sheet without needing a save.

The Lions' back line stayed strong all evening, allowing just four shots in total, none of which were on frame.
With the result, Saint Leo moves to 1-1-1 on the year, while Emmanuel drops to 0-3-0.

The Lions return to action on Sunday, September 14 when they host Christian Brothers at 11 a.m. in non-league action.
