SAINT LEO, Fla. – Tierney Hocquard pitched a complete game, three-hit, shutout as the Saint Leo University Softball team opened the 2025 postseason with a 1-0 win over the seventh-seeded Mississippi College Choctaws in the opening game of the NCAA South Regional 2 on Thursday afternoon at Mary Cannon Cabot Stadium. Saint Leo enters the Winners' Bracket and improves to 39-12 overall and 1-0 in the South Regional, while Mississippi College falls to 36-18 overall and 0-1 in the South Regional.
In the circle, Tierney Hocquard pitched a complete game for the thirteenth time this season and struck out four batters. Alexis Barber led the Lions offensively with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Maddie Antioco followed with two hits of her own.

After three innings of scoreless softball, Saint Leo opened the scoring in the fourth inning with a home run to left field by Barber.

T. Hocquard continued to dominate in the circle, retiring 10 consecutive batters as the game rolled into the later innings.

T. Hocquard finished off another impressive performance to earn her sixth shutout of the season.

Saint Leo only recorded three base-runners, but made the hits count in the 1-0 win.
