ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team opened its series at Eckerd with a dominate 10-4 victory on Friday night in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action.

Ryan Crivello drove in a pair of runs with a single down the left field line before the Tritons answered with a two-run homer in the second. Junior
Thomas DeBrower stole home to give the Lions a 3-2 edge. The Green and Gold offense scored seven consecutive runs to lead by a 10-2 margin. Eckerd tallied a pair of runs in the seventh before being shut down for the remainder of the game.
On the bump, junior
Tyler Mecchella started and pitched 6.1 innings with three strikeouts while allowing four runs on six hits as he was tabbed with the win.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, May 3 as it concludes its series at Eckerd with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
