Keim Returns to Saint Leo as Head Volleyball Coach

Apr 25, 2025

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University and the Department of Athletics are proud to announce the return of Abigail (Moser) Keim as the new head coach of the Saint Leo volleyball program.

Keim, who originally joined the Lions in March 2019 as the first hire under former head coach Jason Skoch, was a key architect in one of the program's most historic seasons. In her first year with the Green and Gold, Keim helped guide the Lions to their first NCAA South Region Championship and a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Keim back to Saint Leo," said Marcal Lazenby, Director of Athletics, Wellness, and Recreation. "Her impact on our volleyball program was undeniable during her time as an assistant, and we know she's ready to lead the Lions forward. She brings a strong competitive drive, a deep commitment to student-athlete success, and a passion for the Saint Leo community."

During her time on the Lions' bench, Keim helped develop standout talent including Anilise Fitzi, who earned First Team All-Sunshine State Conference, All-South Region, and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honors. Keim's defensive expertise and team-first approach laid the groundwork for a championship-caliber culture.

"Returning to Saint Leo feels like coming home," said Keim. "This program holds a special place in my heart, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to lead it. I'm excited to work with our amazing student-athletes, reconnect with this supportive community, and continue building a culture of excellence both on and off the court."

Before her initial tenure with the Lions, Keim served as the head coach at Quincy University (Ill.), where she led the Hawks for two seasons. During her time there, she elevated the team's performance on both sides of the ball. The Hawks ranked among the top defensive teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), finishing third and second in digs per set in consecutive seasons. Under her leadership, senior outside hitter Rebekah Raebel earned First Team All-GLVC honors, while the team maintained a strong academic profile with a 3.4 GPA and a perfect graduation rate. Keim also previously served as a graduate assistant and assistant coach at Quincy, where she helped the program to its first GLVC Tournament appearance since 2011 and developed multiple all-conference performers.

Before joining the coaching ranks, the Wildwood, Missouri native starred as a libero at Truman State University. She holds school records for digs (2,416) and digs per set (4.75), and was named the 2014 GLVC Libero of the Year and an All-Midwest Region honoree.

She earned bachelor's degrees in exercise science and nursing from Truman State and Trinity College and a master's degree in education from Quincy University.
