VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Saint Leo baseball team picked up a 9-4 non-conference on the road at Valdosta State on Tuesday night. With the win, the Lions collect the season sweep of the Blazers after notching the first win with a walk off grand slam on Feb. 25.
Junior
Ryan Crivello gave the Green and Gold a 1-0 lead in the first with a single through the right side, however, in the second Valdosta State tied the game at 1-1. Junior
Dylan Mass scored classmate
Roberto Odor on a sacrifice-fly in the third that was answered with a run in the bottom half of the third by the Blazers.
Saint Leo's offense kicked into gear with seven unanswered runs with a two-run single by Mass followed by a one-run single by McDonald, 5-2.
Thomas DeBrower knocked in a pair of runs with a single in the sixth followed by Mass blasted a double to left center to score DeBrower. McDonald brought in Mass with a single up the middle, 9-2. The Lions' defense held the Blazers to just two runs for the remainder of the game to seal the victory.
Senior
Dawson Turner started and pitched 1.1 innings with two strikeouts. Senior
Kaelan Racculia collected the win as he pitched 3.0 innings and registered a pair of strikeouts with one earned run on four hits.
Saint Leo returns to action on Friday, April 25 as it hosts Lynn in a conference bout, starting at 6 p.m.
