#13 Men’s Lacrosse Opens Up SSC Play With A 10-5 Victory Over Mocs

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 13th ranked Saint Leo University men's lacrosse team opened SSC play jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed again in a 10-5 win over Florida Southern Saturday Afternoon. Eight Lions found the back of the net as the team improved to 7-2 on the season.

Aidan Knoetgen and Tristan Leblanc led the Lions with two goals apiece. John RaucciBen Baker, and Zach Kroog registered a pair of goals each.
 
 Carson Bulger and Maverick Chernoff also found the back of the net. Knoetgen led the team with five points as he also had a trio of assists. Drew Wheeler (7), James Davies (4) and Owen Wills (4) combined for 15 of Saint Leo's 33 ground balls. Graham won 6 of 14 face-offs for the green and gold.

#13 SAINT LEO 10, FLORIDA SOUTHERN 5
  • Saint Leo struck first for the early 1-0 lead just three minutes in as Maverick Chernoff score his eighth goal of the season.
  • Strong defensive efforts from the Lions kept the score low, forcing the Mocs to commit 18 turnovers
  • The Lions extended their lead with two more goals as Zach Kroog and Tristan Leblanc each found the back of the net to close out the first period, extending the Lions lead, 3-0.
  • The visitors finally got on the board at the end of first quarter to make it a 4-1 Lions advantage.
  • Saint Leo responded with two more goals in the second quarter as Raucci and Knoetgen pushed the lead to 7-1.
  • The Mocs opened the 3rd quarter with a goal cutting the Lions lead 7-2.
  • Saint Leo kept control with two more goals from Bulger and Leblanc midway through the 4th quarter.
  • Knotgen's final goal of the night came in the last 30 seconds of the game to put the Lions in double digit goals.

UP NEXT
