SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 14th ranked Saint Leo men's lacrosse team secured a 12-8 victory over conference rival Lynn University on Saturday afternoon, extending their strong start to the season.

The Lions struck first, as senior Brayden Stellwagen found the back of the net early, setting the tone for the contest. Saint Leo controlled the first quarter, outscoring Lynn 3-1 behind additional goals from Zach Kroog and Ben Baker. Lynn responded in the second, netting two goals to Saint Leo's pair, sending the game into halftime with the Lions leading 5-3.

Saint Leo broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Fighting Knights 5-2 in a dominant stretch that saw Stellwagen complete his hat trick. Kroog and Baker added to their tallies, while Michael Guenther and Jimmy McGonigle each found the net.

Lynn attempted to rally in the final quarter, scoring three times, but the Lions' defense held strong. Aidan Knoetgen found Stellwagen late in the fourth quarter, sealing the 12-8 victory.

Stellwagen led the way with a career high four goals, while Kroog netted three. Knoetgen contributed a goal and a game-high three assists.  The Lions defense caused 16 turnovers, and goalkeeper Drew Wheeler recorded 14 saves to secure the win.

Saint Leo now improves to 8-2 on the season and remains unbeaten in conference play at 2-0. The Lions will look to continue their momentum as they prepare for their next matchup against #1 Tampa next Wednesday, starting at 8:00 p.m.
