Baseball Drops Non-SSC Contest to #7 Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost on the road at seventh-ranked Florida Southern in a non-Sunshine State Conference (SSC) game on Tuesday night.

The Lions gained an early 1-0 advantage following a sacrifice-fly from graduate student Adam Berry knock in junior Thomas DeBrower. Senior Ryan Robinson plated junior Ryan Crivello on and RBI-single to center field as Saint Leo led by a 2-0 margin. In the bottom half of the first, the Mocs tied the game at 2-2.

During the fifth, senior Caleb Adams doubled down the left field line to drive in junior Roberto Odor, 3-2. However, a homer from Florida Southern tied the game in the sixth before the Mocs tallied a pair of runs in the seventh to hold a 6-3 edge.

Graduate student Drew Rudsinski started on the mound and pitched 6.0 innings as he collected one strikeout while surrendering three runs (all earned) on six hits.

Saint Leo is back in action on Friday, March 21 as it hosts Florida Tech in a conference bout, starting at 6 p.m.
