SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team earned a 18-8 win at home in game one of a three-game series against the Panthers of Florida tech Friday afternoon.
The panthers got on the board early in the second inning, but Saint Leo was able to bounce back in the third inning taking the 2-1 lead. Junior
Thomas DeBrower had a solid outing posting four hits and an RBI.
It was a back-and-forth game until the 5
th inning when Saint Leo posted nine runs, thanks to a grand slam by Senior
Caleb Adams. Adams continues to dominate at the plate leading the Lions in home runs this year with seven.
The Lions were able to extend their lead in the 6
th inning with Adams hitting a double to left center field bringing in two more runs on the afternoon,
On the mound, grad student
Kyle Scrape started for the Lions and pitched 4.0 innings while surrendering three runs on five hits.
Saint Leo returns to the diamond, tomorrow, Saturday, March 22 as it competes in game two and three of the three-game series vs Florida Tech, starting at 1 p.m.
