MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost 8-5 on the road in the series opener at Barry in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action on Friday night.
The Bucs commanded a 5-0 lead after the second inning, however, the Lions battled back to trim its deficit by one run between the fourth and fifth innings. Senior

Adrian Selles each tallied a sacrifice-fly in the fourth followed by senior
Caleb Adams driving in a run after being hit by a pitch followed by junior
Dylan Mass walking in a run. Barry added a pair of runs in the sixth to extend its advantage to 7-4. Junior
Amai Rivera-Martinez knocked in a run with a single to the left side in the seventh, however, the Bucs kept the Lions at bay to seal the win.
On the mound, graduate student
Kyle Scrape started and pitched 5.2 innings with three strikeouts while allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits. In relief, senior
Aedan Walter pitched 2.1 innings and struck out one batter in addition to allowing one run (earned) on two hits.
Saint Leo concludes its series at Barry tomorrow with a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
