SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University softball extended its win streak to double digits on Tuesday evening with a doubleheader sweep of West Liberty at the Mary Cannon Cabot Stadium. With the doubleheader sweep the Lions have now won 11 in a row to improve to 19-8 overall. The offense combined for 20 hits and 17 RBI across the two games. West Liberty falls to 5-10 overall.
Sophomore
Maddie Antioco led the way for the Lions with four RBI in game one. Junior
Lindsay Corazzini drove in two runs of her own. Four more Lions recorded an RBI. Sophomore
Juli Stachowicz pitched three scoreless innings, before allowing one run in the fourth inning. Freshman
Chloe Hocquard entered in relief and pitched one inning of one run softball.
In the second game, Antioco and Corazzini recorded a pair of RBI each. Junior
Hailey Beuerlein added two hits and two RBI. Junior
Haleigh Thomas pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, while striking out four. Freshman
Bella DeJulio came on in relief and pitched four scoreless innings to earn her fourth win on the season.
Game 1: Saint Leo 10, West Liberty 2
- Saint Leo got on the board first with sophomore Sydney Cline hitting her team-leading second homerun of the season with a solo shot in the second inning.
- Stachowicz struck out back-to-back Hilltoppers to get out of bases-loaded jam in the second inning, keeping the visitors off the board.
- The Lions loaded the bases in the third inning, capitalizing with a two-run single from Antioco.
- Saint Leo quickly reloaded the bases before Corazzini delivered a two-run single of her own.
- West Liberty got on the board with a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Lions responded, with Sophomore Alexis Barber drove in a run in the fourth inning.
- Antioco delivered a two-run double to give Saint Leo an eight-run lead before Freshman Marissa Martinez and Sophomore Nia DeBenedittis both drove in a runs on RBI-singles.
- Saint Leo took an eight-run lead into the fifth inning, and C. Hocquard struck out three of the four batters she faced to secure the win.
Game 2: Saint Leo 7, West Liberty 0
- Saint Leo opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI-single down the left field line from senior Hope Epps.
- West Liberty loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning, but Thomas and her defense rallied to keep the visitors off the board.
- The Lions once again scored, this time in the fifth inning. Antioco continued her impressive evening with an RBI on a fielding error.
- Corazzini also continued her impressive night with a two-run single up the middle.
- Beuerlein drove in two more runs on an RBI-double to left center, giving Saint Leo a six-run lead.
- The Lions added a seventh run in the sixth with yet another RBI from Antioco, this time by an RBI-single to score junior Briana Neal.

Saint Leo wraps up its homestand on Friday, March 14, as they welcome the #22 Barry Buccaneers for a three-game SSC series. First pitch on Friday evening is scheduled for 6 p.m.
