- The Lions offense started slow, only scoring six points in the opening nine minutes. The Sailfish were able to jump out to a six-point lead during that span, but were also plagued by scoring droughts. The Lions offense got going thanks to two free throws from Hot, and a pair of layups from junior Logan Ryan, and freshman Jaylan McElroy.
- Both sides traded fast break scores until Corso knocked down a three-pointer to put the Lions within two. Moments later, Hot sank a three to give the Lions their first lead of the night, prompting a quick timeout from the Sailfish. Coach Henke's squad stayed strong defensively, holding the home team to only four points in the closing three minutes of the half. Saint Leo took an eight-point lead into the half.
- The Sailfish kept the Lions scoreless for the first two minutes of the second half, before three-pointers from Corso and Wilson gave the Lions a nine-point advantage. Despite a three-minute scoring drought, the Green & Gold held on to its lead. Hot stayed hot, knocking down yet another three-pointer, and McElroy scored a contested layup to give the Lions a 10-point lead.
- The Sailfish weren't going down without a fight going on a 9-0 run in two minutes to take the lead back just after the halfway mark of the period. The Lions scoring drought would last for over five minutes, proving costly as Palm Beach Atlantic pulled away thanks to a 20-0 run in the final minutes of the contest.
