Baseball Swept by Flagler to Conclude Three-Game Series

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team was swept by Flagler in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday evening at Thomas B. Southard Stadium. The Lions lost game one by a 6-2 margin followed by a 4-3 loss in game two.

Game One: Flagler 6, Saint Leo 2
The Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before an RBI-single from graduate student Adam Berry trimmed the Saint Leo deficit to 4-1. Over the fifth and sixth innings, Flagler added a pair of runs to lead 6-1. In the eighth, sophomore Eli Vickers drove in sophomore Luis Rivero on a fielder's choice, 6-2.

On the mound, senior Adean Walter started and pitched 5.1 innings while collecting six strikeouts. He surrendered six runs (all earned) on 12 hits. Freshman Drew Stillwell pitched 3.2 innings in relief and struck out a pair.

In the bottom of the third and seventh, DeBrower recorded RBI on sacrifice-bunts to score junior Ryan Jackson as the Green and Gold held a slight 3-2 edge. In the ninth, the Saints blasted a solo home run to tie the game and eventually grasped a 4-3 lead on a wild pitch.

On the mound, freshman Maddox Sullivan started and pitched 4.0 innings with two runs on three hits and one strikeout. In relief, senior Dawson Turner pitched 4.0 innings and surrendered two runs on two hits with five strikeouts.
