SAINT LEO, Fla. – The sixth ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team sailed to a 7-0 blanking of the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday evening at home. The Lions earned the doubles point before winning five straight singles matches in straight sets before completing the sweep with a tiebreaker win at number five singles. Saint Leo improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in SSC play.
Eduardo Cohen and
Luis Iriarte opened the match with a 6-0 win at doubles number one.
Dylan Andrianaly and
Vincent Thiel followed with a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point for the defending SSC champions. Saint Leo closed out doubles play with a 6-4 win at number three doubles by
Kodai Kato and Fillippo Caporali.
Singles play was all Saint Leo early as the Lions won the first five singles courts in straight set fashion. A 6-2, 6-0 win at number two singles by
Kodai Kato clinched the victory for the Lions. Eckerd won its lose set of the match at singles number five before
Enes Kocu rallied to win the final two sets including the tiebreaker in the final set 12-10.

The Lions is off for a week and half before taking on Findlay at home on Saturday, March 8. First Serve between the Lions and the Oilers is set for 10 a.m. at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
