Baseball Concludes SSC Series at Rollins with 7-2 Loss

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost the final game of its three-game series on the road at Rollins on Sunday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action.

The Tars held a 6-0 advantage before the Lions were able to score a run in the seventh as senior Caleb Adams was hit by a pitch when the bases were loaded which scored junior Amai Rivera-Martinez. Junior Thomas DeBrower trimmed the deficit to 6-2 with a sacrifice-fly to center field, driving in classmate Dylan Mass. However, Rollins registered a solo homer to left field in the bottom of the seventh to gain a 7-2 margin.

Senior Aedan Walter started for the Lions and pitched 3.0 innings as he allowed four runs (all earned) on four hits and recorded one strikeout. In relief, graduate student Drew Rudsinski recorded 1.1 innings of work and held the Tars hitless while striking out one batter.

Saint Leo returns to action on Tuesday, February 25 as it hosts Valdosta State in a non-conference out, starting at 5 p.m.
