SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team earned a 6-3 win over Rollins in game two of the three-game series on the road in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Tars took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth after a sacrifice fly, however, the Lions answered in the top of the sixth with run coming from an RBI-double by senior
Dylan McDonald. Rollins reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the sixth, 2-1.
During the eighth, the bats for Saint Leo were rolling as senior
Ryan Robinson launched his first career home run while driving in three runs to give the Green and Gold a 4-2 cushion. Junior
Dylan Mass registered a pair of runs with a single through the right side as juniors
Amai Rivera-Martinez and
Ryan Crivello crossed home plate, 6-2. Rollins only mustered one run for the remainder of the game as the Lions sealed the road victory, 6-3.
On the bump, graduate student
Kyle Scrape started for Saint Leo and pitched 6.0 innings will allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits in addition to striking out three. Graduate student
Drew Rudsinski collected the win as he pitched 1.1 innings with two strikeouts and only surrendered one run (earned) on three hits. Junior
Tyler Mecchella earned the save with 1.2 innings of work on 22 pitches he allowed one hit and just walked one batter.
The Lions return to action tomorrow, Sunday, February 23 as they conclude their three-game series on the road at Rollins with a solo game, starting at 12 p.m.
