WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost on the road at Rollins by a 5-3 margin in its Sunshine State Conference (SSC) opener on Friday night.
Senior
Caleb Adams blasted his first homer of the season during the second inning as the Lions claimed a 2-0 advantage followed by an RBI-single by Adams in the fourth to give Saint Leo a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Tars notched a run during a single to right field before Rollins registered a three-run homer in the seventh to grasp a 4-3 edge. In the eighth, the Tars collected another run on a bases loaded walk, 5-3.
On the mound, senior
Kaelan Racculia started for the Lions and pitched 4.0 innings while striking out two batters and surrendering one run (earned) on seven hits.
Saint Leo returns to the diamond, tomorrow, Saturday, February 22 as it competes in game-two of the three-game series at Rollins, starting at 1 p.m.
