ORLANDO, Fla. – The sixth ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 win in a neutral site match against Bates College on Thursday morning as its kicked off three straight matches in as many days. The Lions improved to 4-2 on the season with the victory.
The two teams traded doubles wins as the Lions opened the match with a 6-4 win at number two doubles. Bates evened the doubles play with a 6-3 win at number three doubles. Saint Leo's
Kodai Kato and
Vincent Thiel won their doubles match in a tiebreaker, 7-6(5) to clinch the doubles point for the Lions.
Saint Leo quickly wrapped up the victory as
Filippo Caporali clinched the match victory for the Lions with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number six singles. With back-to-back 6-1 wins,
Kodai Kato gave the Lions a 2-0 advantage before
Dylan Andrianaly won 6-3, 6-1 at number one singles for the 3-0 lead.
