#6 Men's Tennis Falls 4-1 at #1 Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The sixth ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 road match at top-ranked Valdosta State University on Friday evening. The Lions were looking to avenge last season's heartbreaking loss in the national semifinals as they made the trip to Valdosta on Friday. The Lions fell to 4-3 on the season as the Blazers improved to 2-0 in 2025. Saint Leo is in the midst of a three-match road stretch and are currently 1-1 following a win over Bates on Thursday and a set back at Valdosta State on Friday.

The Blazers opened the match with doubles wins at number three and one to secure the early 1-0 lead. VSU won 6-0 at doubles three and 6-3 at doubles one and had a 5-3 advantage at doubles two at the time of the clinch.

After VSU put the match on the brink of clinching, Vincent Thiel earned a two-set victory at number one singles to get the Lions on the board. A Blazer win at number five singles clinched the match for the home team.
