Women’s Basketball Breaks School Record For Made Three Pointers, Win’s Fourth Straight

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Saint Leo women's basketball won their fourth straight game defeating the Rollins College Tars by a score of 83-66. The lions set a school record for made three point field goals with 15.

First Quarter

Saint Leo came out firing and immediately took control of the game. Sophomore Jocelyn Gagnon knocked down multiple three-pointers to ignite an early run, while the Lions' defense held Rollins to just 4-of-18 shooting in the opening period. Saint Leo's ball movement and rebounding dominance helped build a 15 point lead after one, setting the tone for a wire to wire victory.

Second Quarter

Rollins responded with more energy in the second quarter, trimming the deficit but the Lions matched each basket the Tars delivered. Zoe O'Leary continued to score efficiently in the paint, and timely baskets from junior Olivia Agunzo and freshman Jailenn Green helped the Lions weather the run. Saint Leo entered halftime with a 42–33 advantage.

Third Quarter

The third quarter saw much of the same as Rollins slowly clawed their back back but once again Saint Leo answered every surge. With key perimeter shots, including triples from Green and junior Meghan Conley. Defensive rebounds and the hounding full court press allowed the Lions to hold their lead going into the fourth, 59–52.

Fourth Quarter

Saint Leo put the game away in the final period with Gagnon catching fire from three. She scored 13 points in 9 minuets, including a 4-point play at the 9:22 mark that set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Gagnon made the free throw and drilled her next 3 3-point attempts. Her final basket of the day broke the program record for made three pointers as a team with the Lions 15th make from behind the arc. The prior record was 14 makes against Trinity College on December 4th 2018. Saint Leo outscored Rollins by 10 in the quarter, pulling away for their fourth straight victory, and another SSC victory, 83–66.
