Women’s Basketball Wins Third Straight At Home Against Conquistadors

O'Leary with Her Third Double Double Of The Season

SAINT LEO, Fla. — Saint Leo University women's basketball won their third consecutive game by a score of 99-67 against the conquistadors of Florida National University. The Lions never trailed and were led by freshman Zoe O'Leary's second consecutive double double. 

First Quarter 

Saint Leo set the tone immediately, pushing the pace and getting quick steals in transition from their press. O'Leary dominated early, scoring repeatedly in the paint and controlling the glass to give the Lions an early cushion. Freshman green Jailenn Green added a three-pointer and attacked in transition as the lions quickly jumped into a double digit lead. Saint Leo =shot nearly 59 percent in the opening quarter while holding Florida National to just 33.3 percent shooting and led 28-17 after one 

Second Quarter 

Saint Leo continued to extend the lead in the second quarter by capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance opportunities. Sophomore Amy Duggan facilitated the offense effectively, creating open looks while also finishing in transition. Junior Olivia Agunzo sparked the Lions off the bench, knocking down timely perimeter shots to stretch the defense. Saint Leo forced Florida National into empty possessions and turned defense into offense, mounting a 52-29 lead at the half.  

Third Quarter 

The Lions delivered their most complete quarter after halftime, combining efficient scoring with relentless defensive pressure. O'Leary continued her strong play inside, while Duggan and junior Mira Hanna pushed the pace and converted fast break opportunities. Saint Leo shot 50 percent in the quarter and consistently punished defensive breakdowns. Florida National briefly found offense, but the Lions were able to match every basket the Conquistadors every basket. 

Fourth Quarter 

The fourth quarter saw Agunzo catch fire from beyond the arc, finishing with five three-pointers to lead all scorers off the bench, including three consecutive shots from deep. Green added key baskets and assists as the Lions continued to score at a high rate. Saint Leo outscored Florida National 24–18 in the quarter and pushed the margin past 30 late. O'Leary closed out the night with her third double double of the season and the women's basketball team won 99-67.

The women's basketball team will be back in action on New Years Eve, when they will travel to Rollins College to play at 2 P.M.
