SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo University women's basketball team (3-2) stumbled at home as they fell to the University of Central Missouri Jennies by a score of 87-33.
The Lions started out the game with freshman Zoe O'Leary scoring inside off an assist from graduate student Paula Llovich. Sophomore Amy Duggan scored once again on a fast break off an assist from Jaileen Green. The Lions closed out the quarter with a free throw from Duggan and trailed 23-7.
The second quarter saw more of the same from the Lions and the Jennies, as the Jennies caught fire from three and were taking advantage of second chance opportunities through offensive rebounds and fast breaks. The Lions trailed at the half 48-20.
The third and fourth quarters continued similar offensive and defensive trends from both the Lions and Jennies. O'Leary and Llovich both had strong finishes to the basket, drawing fouls and generated opportunities for free throws after made baskets.
The women's basketball team ultimately fell by a score of 87-33. Despite the loss the Lions still managed 20 points in the paint, and 10 points off turnovers. Both key areas as they return to conference play after Thanksgiving.
Duggan led the scoring for the night with nine points, while O'Leary led in rebounds with 6. Green also had 5 steals on the night, a career high.
Women's basketball returns to action on Wed. Dec. 3 at home against the Florida Southern Mocs (2-1).
