Men's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Road Draw at Eckerd in SSC Play

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw on the road against Eckerd in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action on Wednesday night at Johnson Field.

The Lions struck first late in the opening half when sophomore Juan Jimenez found the back of the net in the 40th minute off an assist from freshman Christian Getsos, giving Saint Leo a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Eckerd leveled the match in the 67th minute. The Lions quickly regained momentum in the 79th minute when senior Anel Rojas netted his third goal of the season, finishing a setup from senior goalkeeper Pablo Bas Colomer to reclaim the lead at 2-1.

The Tritons, however, managed to equalize once more in the 88th minute, closing out the night in a 2-2 deadlock.

Saint Leo outshot Eckerd 15-8, placing nine attempts on goal compared to the Tritons' five. Bas Colomer finished with three saves in goal.

The Lions will return home on Saturday, Oct. 11, to host reigning national champion, Lynn, in another SSC matchup, starting at 7 p.m.
