SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team battled hard but ultimately fell 2-0 to the nation's top-ranked Lynn on Saturday evening in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) play at University Turf Stadium.
The Fighting Knights opened the scoring early and found the back of the net in the fifth minute. Despite, the early deficit, Saint Leo's defense tightened for much of the first half, with senior goalkeeper
Pablo Bas Colomer making key stops to keep the Lions within striking distance.
In the second half, the Lions continued to push forward, earning three corner kicks and creating opportunities through
Ayoub Boumelala and
Anel Rojas, who each registered a shot. However, Lynn capitalized again in the 78th minute with its second goal of the match.
Bas Colomer finished the night with two saves for Saint Leo, while the Lions totaled four shots — one on goal — and three second-half corners.
Saint Leo returns to action on Saturday, October 18 as it travels to Barry for a conference bout, starting at 6 p.m.
