Rojas Nets Equalizer as Men's Soccer Earn 1-1 Draw at No. 16 Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against No. 16 Nova Southeastern on Saturday night in Sunshine State Conference action, marking the consecutive game that the Lions have tied a top-25 team as they last tied No. 22 Florida Tech on Wednesday night.

After falling behind early in the second half, the Lions clawed their way back as senior Anel Rojas delivered the equalizer in the 74th minute, securing a valuable road point for Saint Leo.

Nova Southeastern struck first in the 55th minute to give the Sharks a 1-0 edge. Saint Leo remained composed and continued to pressure the NSU back line before Rojas capitalized midway through the second half, notching his second goal of the season to even the score at 1-1.

Senior goalkeeper Pablo Bas Colomer was stellar between the posts, recording six saves while facing 18 shots from the nationally ranked Sharks. Nova Southeastern outshot Saint Leo by an 18-13 margin and also led in the corner kick category 6-1.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, October 9, as they travel to face Eckerd in an SSC showdown, starting at 7 p.m.
