MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Saint Leo University volleyball team closed out its weekend at Barry University on Saturday evening. The Lions stayed competitive through each set but untimely runs by the home team gave the Buccaneers a 3-0 win over the Lions. Saint Leo battled throughout but fell 3-0 to Barry on the road, led by
Brielle Kallberg's six kills and steady offensive presence.
Gina Stavile added four kills, while setter
Tajma Muharemovic finished with 21 assists, two aces, and six digs in the conference match up.
Saint Leo hit .022 as a team with 23 kills and 21 errors on 91 attempts in the 3-0 defeat at Barry. Kallberg paced the Lions with six kills on a .154 hitting percentage, while Stavile and
Emma LeTourneau each added four kills, with LeTourneau hitting .444 and contributing two block assists.
Alexa Gandolfo chipped in four kills and a block assist, and
Kaitlyn Anderson served one ace while adding a block assist. Muharemovic directed the attack with 21 assists, two service aces, and six digs, while libero
Molly Chappell led the back row with six digs.
Giada Solorzano and
Mia Moser combined for five digs, and
Anastasia Azzan contributed defensively with two digs.

Set 1 | Barry 25, Saint Leo 14
The Lions opened strong, keeping pace through the early points behind kills from Kallberg and Stavile. Muharemovic connected with multiple hitters to spread the offense, and Chappell's defense kept the rallies alive. Barry pulled ahead midway through the set, using a late surge to close 25-14.
Set 2 | Barry 25, Saint Leo 16
Saint Leo continued to compete in the second frame, holding close through 15-13 after kills from Kallberg and Gandolfo. Muharemovic and Anderson each served aces to keep the Lions within striking distance before the Buccaneers found momentum to pull away late.
Set 3 | Barry 25, Saint Leo 16
The Lions showed grit in the final frame, erasing an early deficit with kills from LeTourneau and Stavile. Muharemovic's two aces gave Saint Leo a brief boost midway through, but Barry responded with a 6-1 run to seal the match 25-16.

Saint Leo is home three times next week beginning with out Pink Game in the final non-conference game of the season against Flagler on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Halloween features match up with the Panthers of Florida Tech at 6 p.m. on Friday night. The weekend wraps up with a visit by Embry-Riddle to open the final month of the season. First serve against the Eagles is set for 4 p.m.
