SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University men's basketball team opened the home portion of its 2025 schedule hosting the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday afternoon. The Lions took on a Sailfish team that had not played since the final day of the 2024 Hilton Garden Inn Classic in December. Saint Leo saw its three-game winning streak come to an end as the Lions were unable to find a basket in the final seconds to tie it up or take a lead. Saint Leo falls to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in SSC play while Palm Beach Atlantic improves to 11-2 and 4-1 in conference play.
Tae Wilson led the game with 25 points and brought down a team-high seven rebounds.
Jaylan McElroy had 18 points and also brought down seven rebounds and had a pair of steals and four blocks.
Brady Corso provided some pop off the bench with 11 points and as he was two-for-three from beyond the arc.
PALM BEACH ATLANTIC 78, SAINT LEO 76
- Saint Leo had a chance to win with a last-second three-point attempt by Amar Hot, but it missed the mark, sealing the loss.
- Tae Wilson led all scorers with 25 points and added seven rebounds while shooting 9-of-12 from the free-throw line.
- Jaylan McElroy recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, contributing on both ends of the court.
- The Lions committed eight turnovers, including critical ones in the closing minutes, allowing Palm Beach Atlantic to maintain the lead.
- Saint Leo struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 5-of-26 (19.2%) compared to Palm Beach Atlantic's 9-of-23 (39.1%).
- The Lions narrowly lost the rebounding battle 42-41, with Palm Beach Atlantic securing 11 offensive boards leading to 19 second-chance points.
- Brady Corso provided 11 points off the bench, shooting 3-of-4 from the field, including two three-pointers.
- Saint Leo outscored Palm Beach Atlantic 43-36 in the second half, rallying from a nine-point halftime deficit but falling just short.
- Palm Beach Atlantic had four players in double figures, with Alvin Tumblin leading the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
- The Lions shot 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the free-throw line, leaving critical points on the table.
