SAINT LEO, Fla. – In the series opener on Thursday evening, the seventh-ranked Saint Leo baseball team lost 12-4 at home against Rollins in extra innings during Sunshine State Conference (SSC) play.
Junior Callen Moss kickstarted the Lions offense with a solo home run to left center in the bottom of the first inning as Saint Leo led by a 1-0 margin. The Tars quickly answered in the second inning with a pair of runs, 2-1. Rollins extended its lead in the sixth with a sacrifice-fly followed by an RBI-single in the seventh to gain a 4-1 advantage.

Buck Anderson trimmed the Saint Leo deficit to 4-3 with a sacrifice-fly to right center. In the ninth, Moss struck again as he knotted the game at 4-4 with another solo jack, this time to center field, to help send the game into extra innings. Rollins complied eight runs in the top of the 10th inning and gained a 12-4 lead.
Moss went 2-for-3 at the dish with his two home runs and two RBI while being walked once. Scott tallied a hit with an RBI along with Anderson recording an RBI on his sacrifice-fly. Both graduate students

Yazael Nunez posted one hit in four at-bats. On the mound, senior
Luke Lashutka tallied eight strikeouts and allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits in 7.0 innings while being dealt a no decision. In relief, senior
Drew Rudsinski posted a strikeout in 2.0 innings and surrendered three runs (all earned) on three hits.
Saint Leo returns to action, tomorrow, Friday, May 10 as it concludes its three-game series versus Rollins with a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m. The Lions will also celebrate Senior Day prior to game one tomorrow.
