SAINT LEO, Fla - Saint Leo Women's Basketball emerged victorious against the Barry Buccaneers with a final score of 61-59. This game was a back-and-forth affair early showcasing intense competition and skill on both sides. The Lions were able to get a much-needed road victory 61-59.
The Lions, now standing at 10-11 (4-9 Sunshine State), secured a hard-fought win against Barry, who dropped to 8-13 (3-10 Sunshine State) after the close encounter.
From the opening tip-off, the teams were evenly matched, and the lead changed hands seven times throughout the game. The Lions showed resilience and maturity throughout the game, ultimately sealing the victory with a two-point advantage.

Chynna Mattair (14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals): Mattair showcased her scoring ability and defensive prowess, making crucial plays down the stretch.
Olivia Agunzo (12 points, 3 rebounds): Agunzo's efficient shooting and all-around contribution were instrumental in securing the win.
Andjela Pavicevic (7 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists): Pavicevic's presence in the paint and on the boards played a pivotal role for the Lions.

The Lions dominated in the paint, accumulating 34 points compared to Barry's 30. Saint Leo capitalized on fast-break opportunities, scoring 13 fast-break points. Both teams had their fair share of turnovers, with Saint Leo committing 11 and Barry committing 15. The Lions also showcased their defensive intensity recording eight steals and seven blocks in this matchup.
The Lions get a much-needed win and look to keep that momentum going. They will return home next week February 7
th to take on Rollins College at 5:00 p.m. This will also be Faculty Appreciation Night.
