Men's Basketball Falls Short in Overtime Battle Against Barry, 73-82

MIAMI SHORES, Fla - The Saint Leo University men's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road making the trip down south to Miami Shores. The Lions faced a tough defeat at Barry on Saturday afternoon as the Bucs defeated the Lions, 82-73 in overtime.

The Lions fall to 9-12 overall and 4-9 in the SSC. They put up a strong fight but couldn't overcome Barry, who improved to 13-8 overall and 6-7 in the SSC.

Joseph Locandro (19 points, 4 rebounds): Locandro's scoring efficiency and defensive contributions kept the Lions in contention throughout the game.

Kanon Koster (12 points, 4 assists): Koster's well-rounded game included scoring and playmaking, making him a key contributor for Saint Leo.

The Lions came out the second half in good rhythm, but Barry responded and was about to win the second half 36-24 behind a solid performance from Nick Anderson (24 points).

Overtime proved challenging for Saint Leo, as Barry capitalized on free throws, securing the victory with a 9-10 performance from the charity stripe. The lead changed hands five times throughout the game, showcasing the competitiveness of the matchup.

Head coach Lance Randall's thoughts following the loss:
"We battled again tonight. We missed some free throws and layups down the stretch that hurt. We really defended but everything we made a mistake in the last 5 minutes of regulation and all of OT they made us pay"

Joseph and Cantia were very good tonight and Marshawn competed all night off the bench"

"Overall just a very tough way to lose on the road"

The Lions look to get back on track as they return home to take on Rollins College (Feb. 7) for Faculty Appreciation Night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
