Women’s Basketball Roars to Victory Against Lynn, 70-63

SAINT LEO, Fla – In a Sunshine State Conference showdown, Saint Leo Women's Basketball showed their defensive intensity and resilience, clinching a hard-fought victory against the Lynn with a final score of 70-63. The Lions finish the season winning their last home regular season matchup in convincing fashion.

From the start both teams displayed tenacity and competitiveness. The Lions faced a familiar foe in Lynn, but they rose to the occasion, delivering an impressive performance Wednesday night.

Leading the charge for the Lions was Taydra Simpson, whose stellar performance helped reel the Lions to victory. Simpson dominated both ends of the court, finishing with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Her playmaking ability and clutch shooting were instrumental in securing the Lions' victory. Simpson hit a huge four-point play in the final minutes to put the game out of reach for the Knights.

Jumoke Adaramoye also made significant contributions, contributing 11 points and grabbing a team-high 8 rebounds. Chynna Mattair and Jenni Whitlow added 10 and 8 points respectively, showcasing their scoring prowess and defensive prowess throughout the game.

The Lions defense proved to be a difference-maker by forcing turnovers and limiting Lynn's scoring opportunities. With key stops and timely steals, the Lions effectively disrupted Lynn's offensive rhythm, capturing the win in a hard-fought contest.

Coach Crocitto's thoughts following the win:
"Taydra was an all conference player today. Dominant on both ends and hit a big time three late to seal the deal."

"I can't say enough about our bench who accepted their roles and gave us some solid minutes."

"I love our seniors, and they have meant a lot to this program. Their legacy will carry on for years to come."

"We are so proud of these ladies as they could have mailed it in and did not. They prepped appropriately and focused on finishing a game tonight."

"Our future is bright. We are here to cut down nets."

The Lions will close out the regular season this Saturday March 2nd as the travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla to take on the Sharks of Nova Southeastern. Tipoff is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
