#2 Men’s Tennis Blanks Eckerd in SSC Action

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The second-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team shutout Eckerd, 7-0, on the road today in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions won the second and third doubles match to clinch the doubles point as graduate student Nicolas Bacella and freshman Eduardo Cohen collected a 6-1 win in the second position followed by a 6-1 win in the third slot for juniors Jinsei Tajima and Dylan Andrianaly.

The Green and Gold swept the singles competition to secure the victory. Sixth-year Martin Soukal won by a 6-3, 6-2 margin in the first singles slot followed by Bacella earning a 7-6, 7-6 win at the second singles position. Graduate Student Ghali Mensour collected a 6-3, 6-1 victory in third singles before senior Luis Iriarte won by a 6-3, 6-2 margin in the fourth position. Cohen notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fifth spot while Tajima earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the sixth singles slot.
