SAINT LEO, Fla. – The second-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team collected a 5-2 victory over Washburn at home in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
The Ichabods won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. However, the Lions went on to claim five of the six singles matches to roll to a victory.
Graduate students
Nicolas Bacella and
Ghali Mensour notched a 6-1 win in the second doubles slot.
In singles competition, sixth-year
Martin Soukal won by a 5-2, 6-2, 6-1 margin in first singles. At the second singles slot, junior
Vincent Thiel earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory while Mensour won fourth singles with a 6-4, 6-3 score. Junior
Dylan Andrianaly collected a 6-1, 6-2 in the fifth singles position before senior
Luis Iriarte posted a 6-2, 6-2 win in sixth singles.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, March 2 as they face Lynn on the road in Sunshine State Conference action at 10 a.m.
