WINTER PARK, Fla. – The 21st-ranked Saint Leo University softball team completed a three-game sweep of the Rollins College Tars on Friday evening taking both ends of a doubleheader. The Lions took the first game of the Friday doubleheader 6-2 and followed that with a 14-6 victory in six innings in the second game. Saint Leo improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 to open Sunshine State Conference play.
Haleigh Thomas earned her first win of the season as she pitched a complete game allowing just two unearned runs on two hits while striking out six and walking three in the 6-2 victory.
Alexis Barber led the Lions offense in the second game going 4-for-4 with six RBI and a run scored.

Jayla Brooks sent a two-RBI double to center on a nine pitch at-bat that scored Thomas and Barber for an early 2-0 Lions lead.
Rollins was gifted its only runs of the game in the bottom of the first as the two runners crossed the plate, first on a passed ball and second on a wild pitch.
That was all she wrote in the first game for the Tars in the scoring department as Thomas allowed just a single hit in the third and fifth innings each.
Neal scored twice for the Lions in the victory as she scored on an RBI base hit off the bat of Shyanne Wall to give the visitors a lead they would not relinquish. The reigning SSC freshman of the year returned to the plate an inning late and sent a ball over the centerfield wall scoring
Grace Dunsworth to give Saint Leo a 6-2 edge over Rollins.

The Lions saw the Tars put up three runs in the bottom of the first.
Saint Leo quickly responded by tying the game at 3-3 in the top of the second. After singling up the middle to score Neal, Brooks stole home to inch the Lions within one. Wall hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Perez to making it a 3-3 game.
The visitors took their first lead of the game as Perez scored
Caroline Barwick and Neal to make it a 5-3 Lions advantage.
The entire Saint Leo lineup stepped to the plate in a five-run fifth inning for the Lions. Barber reached on a fielding error and the back-to-back hit by pitches loaded the bases. Saint Leo took a 6-3 lead as
Hailey Beuerlein drew an RBI bases loaded walk. A one-out infield single off the bat of Brooks was enough to chase the Tars first reliever from the circle. At the end of the top of the fifth, Saint Leo held a 10-3 lead.
