SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team lost 70-57 versus Eckerd at home on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action.
Head coach
Anthony Crocitto said, "I thought we were good; we made our goals in practice. We have a talented scout team that pushes us. Defensively we were ready, but we didn't have anybody that could continuously score the ball tonight. It was a rough night for us and we got to deal with it." Crocitto also stated, "We got to pass the ball, we have to move. We've got to share the ball and trust each other a little more. We like to run and go and they jammed us up and they did what they had to do and we didn't."
Saint Leo was held to a 29.0 field goal percentage and went 5-for-16 from beyond the arc. The Lions had help from the bench with 19 points coming from nonstarters. The Green and Gold also looked to transition well with 18 fast break points.
Redshirt junior
Chynna Mattair led the Lions with 11 points along with a steal and a rebound. Freshman
Vanessa McManus notched nine points with a pair of takeaways and five boards. Graduate Student
Jumoke Adaramoye tallied eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. Junior
Alanis Diaz scored eight points and posted seven rebounds.
Saint Leo returns to the court on Saturday, December 7 as it hosts Tampa at 2 p.m. in an SSC bout.
