SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team lost 70-54 at home on Saturday afternoon against Tampa in a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) matchup.
Head coach
Anthony Crocitto stated, "We've done a decent job with the bigs through our first seven games, just not today. Too much 1-on-1 got to us. We had some different legs out there and they were fighting for playing time, whether it's Sadia or Kyra. We went a little smaller with Taydra and Alanis so when you get smaller you get quicker and feistier and we picked up a little more aggressively in the half court, but it was too little too late. We got to work on post D, it's different matchups. Every game is going to be a fight, and our journey right here is Eckerd, Tampa, and Embry-Riddle and its difficult in the whole league, but God is great, He's going to deliver for us and we're going to keep on working."
Saint Leo was held to a 30.9 shooting percentage and went 6-for-25 from beyond the arc. The Green and Gold held the edge on second chance points, 10-6, while also leading in the bench points category, 20-6. The Lions looked to push the ball with 20 fastbreak points.
