SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team collected an 81-44 victory at home versus Trinity College (Fla.) in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.
The Lions' offense had a trio of players score in double figures as freshman
Vanessa McManus led the team with 11 points, while junior
Alanis Diaz and freshman
Shadia Lara collected 10 points each. Diaz and graduate student
Jumoke Adaramoye controlled the glass with nine rebounds each. Additionally, Adaramoye made her presence felt on defense with a pair of blocks. Diaz and Lara had active hands on defense with six and five steals, respectively.
The Green and Gold shot 43.5 percent from the field as they went 27-for-62 and went 20-for-33 from the charity stripe. As a team, Saint Leo grabbed 42 boards. After the opening quarter, the Lions held a commanding 25-8 lead before limiting the Tigers to just six points in the second frame to lead by a 45-14 margin at intermission. The Green and Gold outscored the Tigers 36-30 in the second half to claim an 81-44 win.
Saint Leo returns to the court on Tuesday, November 19, as it hosts Flagler in a non-conference bout, starting at 5 p.m.
