Men’ Soccer Edged by Rollins, 2-1

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team lost 2-1 on the road at Rollins in a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) bouton Wednesday night. With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-8-3 overall with a 2-4-2 mark in conference games.

For majority of the first half, both teams did not find the net in their share of opportunities until the Tars struck first with a goal in the 42nd minute and held a 1-0 lead at intermission. Rollins registered its second score of the night less than three minutes into the second frame to capture a 2-0 cushion.

The Lions answered back in the 57th minute as junior Anel Rojas laced his seventh goal of the year to trim the Saint Leo deficit to 2-1. However, for the remainder of the game the Green and Gold only attempted three shots with neither finding the net.

Freshman goalkeeper James Knudson tallied four saves in the complete-game effort.

Rollins and Saint Leo were tied with 14 shot attempts each while the Tars held a 6-4 lead with shots on goal. Rollins recorded eight corner kicks while the Lions were limited to two.

Saint Leo returns to the pitch on Saturday, November 2 as it hosts Tampa in a conference showdown, starting at 7 p.m.
