SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball team put up a strong effort against Sunshine State Conference (SSC) foe, #9 Lynn, on Saturday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Activities Center, but ultimately fell in straight sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-15.
Senior
Oliwia Durka led the Lions' attack, notching a team-high 14 kills on 37 swings, while junior setter
Tajma Muharemovic kept the offense moving with 20 assists. Senior
Sheila Rodriguez showed efficiency at the net, hitting .429 with three kills, while juniors
Anyaliz Rodriguez and
Giada Solorzano held down the defense with six and five digs, respectively.
The Lions and Fighting Knights fought through 11 tie scores and six lead changes across the match. Saint Leo recorded six tied scores as the Lions rallied to challenge Lynn's early lead. However, the Fighting Knights maintained their cushion for the remainder of the match.
The Green and Gold return to the court on Wednesday, October 30 as they travel to face Eckerd in a conference bout, starting at 7 p.m.
