Saint Leo, Fla.- The Saint Leo women's volleyball welcomed Florida College to the Marion Bowman Center, Tuesday evening. The Lions would pick up their second win of the season defeating the Falcons, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-20)
After some early battling the Falcons were able to steal the lead with a four-point run early in the set. However, the Lions didn't back down and were able to string together a couple of small runs to keep the Florida College lead within three points. Sheila Rodriquez would ignite a huge three point run to bring the Lions within one at 19-18.
Reagan Hopp would tie the game at 20 with a big-time service ace. Saint Leo would then steal the lead with one of
Julia Panko's seven kills. The Lions took command for the rest of the set defeating the Falcons, 25-22.
The Lions continued their dominant play from late in the first set and quickly jumped out to a te- point lead marking it as Saint Leo's largest lead of the night. Saint Leo would take control of the full set to take a 2-0 lead over the Falcons heading into the third set.
Florida College would open up the third set with a 8-1 lead but similar to the whole match the Lions would battle their way back and press the Falcons. The Lions would go on a five point run to bring the Falcons lead to within two points. Both teams would trade points throughout the rest of the final set with the Lions securing the match, 25-20.
The Lions will hit the road and travel to Valdosta, Georgia for the Valdosta State fall tournament. Saint Leo will open up tournament play against Spring Hill College (Ala.) Friday, September 8
th at 9:00 a.m.
