Lions Strike In The Second Half to Pull Through 1-0 Versus Spartans

SAINT LEO, Fla – The Lions' defensive efforts pay off as they strike in the second half to earn a 1-0 result over the University of Tampa.

Ricardo Ceballos once again showed up in the big moments as the Lions faced 23 shots with eight being saved by the dynamic keeper.

The Lions' defense faced double-digit shots in each half of the game.

There was a total of 23 fouls with Saint Leo receiving 13 and the Spartans with 10 of their own.

The second half was more of the same for the Green & Gold until the golden opportunity appeared in the 76th minute as Liam Thomas found the back of the net for the first time this season receiving the ball from a great bit of combination play created by Anel Rojas and Drew Hileman.

The Lions closed out the remaining minutes of the game to secure the 1-0 victory.

The Lions are next in action on the road Saturday, September 23th as they head back home to face-off against the Panthers of Florida Tech in a Sunshine State Conference matchup. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
