SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Saint Leo Baseball team opened up their final series of the 2023 season Friday evening against Palm Beach Atlantic. Both teams would combine for 17 runs in the first game with Saint Leo pulling through defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 10-7.

The Lions now sit at 28-20 on the season and 16-12 in the SSC.

Mikey Scott kicked off the scoring for the Lions, hitting a solo shot to left field. The Lions would add two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the second. Eddie Niemann would spark the rally with a one run single up the middle. Saint Leo would score another run in the second thanks to a bases loaded walk, drawn by
Buck Anderson.

Yazael Nunez would reach on a fielders choice to drive in the fourth run of the game in the bottom of the third to mark the third straight inning that the Lions would score in.

Palm beach Atlantic would score two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Saint Leo would combine for six runs between the sixth and seventh innings to lead the Sailfish, 10-4.

Palm Beach Atlantic would find its offensive groove late in the game tacking on five runs in the final three innings of the game, however the Lions commanding lead would be too much for the Sailfish to handle as Saint Leo took the first game of the series, 10-7

The Lions will return home to Thomas B. Southard Stadium to close out the regular season against Palm Beach Atlantic in a doubleheader Saturday. The first game of the series is scheduled for 1 P.M.
