Baseball Completes Senior Day Sweep Against Sailfish

SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Saint Leo Baseball team closed out their 2023 season against Palm Beach Atlantic in a senior day doubleheader. The Lions swept the doubleheader, defeating the Sailfish 5-4 in game one and 4-3 in game two.
 
The Lions now sit at 30-20 on the season and 18-12 in the SSC.
 
GAME ONE:
 
Palm Beach Atlantic kicked off the first game of the doubleheader with fire. The Sailfish combined for four unanswered runs through the first three innings of play.
 
Cooper Miles and Buck Anderson would get the Lions on the board in the bottom of the third, driving in a run apiece.
 
Miles would carry his hot bat into the bottom of the fifth, hitting a one run single to left to cut the Sailfish lead to one run.
 
Mike Wyman would play hero in the first game of the doubleheader, hitting a two run homer to left center on his senior day to lift the Lions over the Sailfish, 5-4.
 
GAME TWO:
 
Similar to the first game, the Sailfish jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in the top of the third inning.
 
Bobby Sparling would answer back tying the game in the bottom half of the third with a one run single to left. Mikey Scott would give the Lions their first lead of the second game, scoring on a wild pitch.
 
Palm Beach Atlantic would score two runs in the sixth and seventh inning to take a one run lead.
 
Eddie Niemann III would tie the game for Saint Leo in the bottom of the ninth with a one run single down the left field line.
 
Wyman would have a senior day to remember as he would hit his second game winning hit. Wyman would walk off the game with an RBI single through the right side to close the 2023 season, 4-3 over the Sailfish.
