MONTGOMERY, AL- After inclement weather in the area moved the doubleheader for the series between Saint Leo and Auburn Montgomery up one day. The Lions and Warhawks completed their three-game non-conference series, Friday afternoon. The Lions defeated the Warhawks in eleven innings, 9-8 to take the first game. The Lions completed the sweep, defeating the Warhawks 8-0 in the second game.

With the win the Lions improve to 20-14 on the season and 8-7 in the SSC.

GAME ONE:
Â
The first game of the doubleheader featured a late inning comeback by the Lions. The Warhawks jumped out to a quick lead after the second inning. Saint Leo put up a five-piece eighth inning to initially tie the game.

Buck Anderson would drive in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning with a one run single to right center. The Warhawks immediately answered back, tying the game in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.

Both teams would trade points in the tenth, scoring a run each. Anderson would drive in the winning run in the 11
th with his third RBI of the afternoon.

Luke Lashutka got the start on the mound for the Lions to start the doubleheader. Lashutka tossed five innings while facing 23 batters. The junior struck out four batters, while allowing eight hits and three runs.

Nick Jennings received the win on the hill for the Lions, tossing two innings of work. With the win Jennings now sits at 3-1 on the year. Drew Rudinski earned his first save of the season for Saint Leo.

GAME TWO:
Â
Jestin Jones earned the start to close out the doubleheader for the Lions. Jones would pitch a complete game shutout, striking out four of 26 batters faced. Jones only allowed three hits throughout his appearance. With the win Jones improved to 3-2 on the year.

Buck Anderson carried his impressive day at the plate into the second game of the doubleheader. Anderson drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single to right field.

Saint Leo would extend their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
Eddie Niemann III would belt a solo homer to left field to get the scoring started.
Cooper Miles would bring in the second run of the inning, hitting a one run single to left center.

Adrian Roa would drive in the fifth run of the game for the Green & Gold with a one run single to right field. Miles drove in his second run of the game after belting a sacrifice fly to deep center.

The Lions added two more runs to lead the Warhawks, 8-0 in the top of the seventh.

The Lions will return home to Thomas B. Southard Stadium when they welcome Sunshine State Conference opponent to Lynn University, Friday April 14th. First pitch is scheduled for 6 P.M.
