ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Saint Leo baseball team kicked off the first game of their conference series against Eckerd College. The Tritons defeated the Lions, 1-6 to take the first game.

The Lions now sit at 22-17 on the season and 10-9 in the SSC.

Dariel Fregio got the call to start the series on the hill for the Lions. Fregio tossed 6.2 innings of work, throwing 39 strikes and striking out four batters.

After five scoreless innings, Eckerd was able to get on the board in the sixth inning. The Tritons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the sixth.

The Lions would rally in the seventh inning to score their first run of the game.
Bobby Sparling kicked off the seventh inning rally with a single to left field.
Luke Houin would follow up drawing a walk to give the Lions runners at first and second.
Cooper Miles would load the bases with a single to left field.
Giuseppe Arcuri would drive in the first run of the game for Saint Leo with an RBI single to left field.

The Lions will play a doubleheader tomorrow against Eckerd College to close out their conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 P.M.
