VALDOSTA, Ga. – The #3 Saint Leo University Men's tennis team continued its momentum from the ITA National Indoor Tournament, as the Lions defeated #24 Auburn Montgomery 4-1 Saturday evening at the VSU Tennis Court.
Saint Leo (7-0) grabbed the first point in Doubles, sweeping the Warhawks 6-0 and 6-3.
Junior
Ivan Marrero was the only Lion who swept the Singles match, defeating Joao Guariente 6-1, 6-1. After dropping the first set 6-4, Sophomore
Vincent Thiel bounced back to win the second and third sets with 6-4 scores against Muhamad Bedwan.
"A good start to doubles today as AUM has good doubles teams" said Head Coach
Chad Berryhill. "Singles was not such a good start for us. We bounced back and won a lot of key second sets in singles but we need to keep our focus for longer. AUM is a tough team in a very competitive South Region. They have us a great battle today."
