SAINT LEO, Fla. – The #1 Saint Leo University men's tennis team had a successful showing at home on Wednesday, defeating Washburn, 6-1.

The Lions were able to take two of the three doubles matches this afternoon. The pairing of
Ivan Marrero and Tao Bernal Castillo took the second doubles match defeating the #34 pairing of Santiago Rendon and Tim Hammes, 6-4.
Luis Iriarte and
Nicolas Bacella closed out doubles defeating Daniel Bird and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji, 6-4.

Ivan Marrero kicked off singles action with a win over #58 Tim Hammes, 4-6,6-1,10-3. #21
Martin Soukal followed suit defeating #70 Sebastian Pjontek, 6-3 and 6-4. In the fourth singles match of the evening
Luis Iriarte took down Daniel Bird, 6-3 and 6-2.

Henrique Bertoli closed out singles action picking up a win each for the Green & Gold to defeat Washburn, 6-1.

Saint Leo will return to action on March 16
th when they welcome #2 University of Indianapolis for the first time since they defeated UIndy in the ITA Indoor National Championships. The match is set to begin at 11:00 am at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
