SAINT LEO, Fla- The Saint Leo baseball team welcomed Purdue Northwest for a midweek matchup. Due to inclement weather in the area the game got pushed back one day. The Lions defeated the Pride, 8-3.

With the win the Lions improve to 11-10 on the season.

Luke Lushutka got the start on the hill for the Lions Tuesday. Despite giving up a two-run homer in the of the first, Lashutka answered with four strikeouts in the first two innings. Lashutka tossed three frames while striking out seven of thirteen batters faced.

Dylan Mass would get on base with a lead off single up the middle.
Buck Anderson would drive home the first run for the Lions first run of the game after reaching on a fielding error by the second basemen. Adrian Roa would tie the game for Saint Leo when he hit a one run single up the middle.
Giuseppe Arcuri would give the Lions there first lead of the game hitting a three run double to left center.

Andy Booth would find himself in a jam in the top of the fifth loading the bases for the Pride. Booth found his composure and would get Jonathan Glasgow to pop up in foul territory.

Eddie Niemann III added to the Lions lead in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to left field.

Yazael Nunez extended the Lions lead to 7-3 with an RBI single to right center in the bottom of the third.
Dylan Mass kept the rally alive with a one run single of his own to center.

Booth improved to 1-0 on the season after his outing. Booth tossed two innings, allowing four hits and striking out one batter.

The Lions will hit the road for the second time this season traveling to Daytona Beach, Florida to take on Embry-Riddle University in a weekend series beginning on Friday, March 17
th. First pitch is scheduled for 6 P.M.
